West Palm Beach is one of Florida’s quickest growing cities and is full of great things to do. Whether you are a permanent resident, a snow-bird or a visitor to our great city, you’re sure to find something exciting and fun. Read below for some of our favorite things about West Palm Beach.
CityPlace and Clematis Street
CityPlace and Clematis Street are the two dining, entertainment, shopping and cultural centers of the city. They are both within walking distance to each other and offer different experiences. CityPlace is an outdoor shopping center with restaurants (Cheesecake Factory, Mojitos, Brio, Il Bellagio), stores (Anthropologie, Gap, H&M) and a large movie theater called Muvico Parisian 20 with IMAX, D-Box theaters, hot foods and a full liquor bar.Clematis Street is a famous street that is known for its amazing restaurants (The Alchemist, Avocado Grill, Tin Fish and Lynora’s are a few of our favorites), weekly events such as Clematis by Night on Thursdays and The Green Market Farmers Market on Saturdays and Festivals, Green Market, Moonfest, St. Patrick’s Day Festival) and night life.
Museums and Attractions
The Norton Museum of Art is a beautiful museum featuring pieces from Monet to modern artists. The museum is currently being expanded and renovated however they ARE open and offering free admission until the renovation is completed! That means it’s free for all for 2.5 years! They also have an Art After Dark series that takes place on Thursday evenings. For more information, click here.
The South Florida Science Museum and Aquarium is a great place to learn about science and our natural habitat. The museum features the only digital planetarium in Palm Beach County, an Observatory and events like “Night at the Museum”. The Aquarium is split between Atlantic and Everglades ecosystems.
Once you’re done with the aquatic life of the area, why not head over to the Palm Beach Zoo? Most people wouldn’t expect a city like West Palm Beach to have its own zoo, but this is a hidden gem located just south of the downtown area. It has everything you’d want from a zoo including alligators, tigers, apes, an aviary, butterfly garden and tigers! There are many events for both children and adults including Safari Nights and Roar and Pour (for adults). It’s also very shaded and has a splash pad so if you have little ones, don’t forget bathing suits, towels, shoes and swim diapers.
Free Concerts and Festivals
West Palm Beach is famous for its concerts, festivals and events. There are standing events like Clematis by Night (every Thursday night during season), Screen on the Green (2nd Friday of the Month), Sunday on the Waterfront (3rd Sunday each Month), , the Green Market Farmers Market (every Saturday from October-May) and more.
But there are also special events like the South Florida Seafood Festival (Festival of The Sea), Moonfest (Halloween), Sunfest, the Palm Beach International Boat Show and the Palm Beach Jewelry and Art Show. These are absolutely amazing events. In fact, Sunfest is one of South Florida’s largest and longest standing music festivals and lasts 5 days! It completely takes over downtown and has 3 stages of music. Moonfest is an epic Halloween Celebration and the other two are self-explanatory.
There really are more great things to do in West Palm Beach than we have here. We’ll continue to write blogs about them, but consider going antiquing on West Palm’s Antique Row or art shopping in the up-and-coming village of Northwood!
It really is a fun place to visit, but it is more amazing to live here!
